CHAOS

Fridays at 7:30pm, September – June 

The Jr. High ministry at Calvary Church is called CHAOS (Christ Has All Our Solutions) and provides a venue for students in 6th – 8th grades.  The group is run by parents and meets every Friday night, 7:30pm – 9:30pm, September through June.  Here’s where kids can meet for wholesome activities, spiritual teaching and a good time together.  Plus, we want to give them opportunities to serve the church and others.

Usually we get together for some teaching, some games, some snacks and loads of fun!  Every once and a while, though, we’ll split the group so the boys and girls meet separately for gender specific teaching and then come back together for gym games. 

A lot of the teaching focuses on “choices” – making godly choices, choices based on Scripture.  We figure if they can start to learn to make good choices during these junior high years, then they've got a head start for when they have to face the challenges of high school.  The teaching for the boys is centered on characteristics of a godly man, while the girls are being taught about modesty.

Other activities throughout the year include roller skating, Wii Olympics, Monster mini-golf, game nights, holiday and year-end parties as well as various local service projects.  We even try to plan a junior high retreat every other year so that these boys and girls can experience a weekend of solid teaching and connection with kids from other churches.
